Ellen Braun EPK
Biography
Ellen Braun is a captivating Canadian indie-folk artist based in Canmore, Alberta. Known for her poignant storytelling, soulful melodies, and emotive performances, Ellen’s music has resonated with audiences across Canada and beyond. Whether performing intimate solo sets or alongside her band, Trundled, Ellen draws listeners into a world of connection and heartfelt emotion.

Ellen’s career is marked by a series of notable achievements. She has performed on iconic stages like the Bluebird Café in Nashville (2021) and opened for acclaimed artists such as Madison Violet, Craig Cardiff, John Wort Hannam, and Joey Landreth. Her band, Trundled, released their album High Water in 2020, produced by that year’s Canadian Folk Music Awards Producer of the Year winner, Daniel Ledwell. Ellen’s music garners regular airplay on CBC, CKUA, and Canadian college radio stations. Ellen’s single, Inchoate, reached the top 100 in CBC’s 2018 Searchlight competition, and she has been a performer and has led songwriting workshops at folk festivals (eg. Canmore, Smithers, Peace Valley) and at local schools and art organizations (eg. Banff Centre and artsPlace).
Ellen is also an accomplished playwright. In 2023, she debuted a run of her first stage play – to sold-out audiences – in Calgary. Her music and stories have been showcased on CBC Radio, including a live performance on Calgary’s Eyeopener, and in interviews with Doug Dirks and Russel Bowers. Supported by a Canada Council for the Arts grant.

Upcoming Album Release/Tour:
Ellen is in the midst of finishing a new solo album at Montreal’s Hotel2Tango with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Bilerman. This album is being released with a professional radio and PR campaign including graphic and web design by Gabrielle Giroux of Encore Graphics (Celeigh Cardinal), and publicist Beth Cavanagh of What’s the Story (Joel Plaskett, Elliott Brood, Good Lovelies). Initially supported by a successful $13,000 2024 Kickstarter, Ellen’s upcoming album is also being funded by a significant Canada Council for the Arts grant. Her cross-Canada tour begins with a hometown show on April 26, 2025 at artsPlace in Canmore, followed by dates across the country. Joining Ellen for many of the tour dates, includes world-class musicians Stef Schneider drummer (Jeremy Dutcher, Bell Orchestre, The Queer Songbook Orchestra); Sage Reynolds bass; Sarah Hiltz vocals and keys; and Joseph Shea vocals, keys, guitar (Trundled, the Ebbs).
